Matt, it has to be good in the long run because of the tremendous exposure. I think the spreads will be more than offset by this should it happen.

Word is that if the Amex keeps its rules and allows NASDAQ traders to access their floor and enjoy AMEX spreads then the 770 AMEX listed companies will not only get more coverage but will become very popular with NASDAQ traders who will make more money than ever on the bigger spreads. This in turn should mean NASDAQ traders will promote the AMEX ahead of NASDAQ stocks to get more buyers in.

Sounds good in principle.
