Lets talk about valuation.

The main reason that many people bought infoseek over the last few months is that it had a lower valuation than excite and lycos, so it was bound to go up. Seek's price to sales ratio (PSR) has been below 10 over the past few months, while xcit has been around 12-15. Now with seek at $19, the PSR is 13.5 which is roughly even with xcit. And now that seek has issued 3 million more shares of stock, sales would have to increase next quarter to $25 mil (a 100% increase over the previous quarter) for the trailing PSR to stay below 10 with seek's stock price staying an even 20. Remember, seek SHOULD have a lower PSR than xcit because xcit is #2 and seek is #3 (or #4 depending on who you ask).

Rebuilt my position and broke even on the sell/buy transactions. I like getting on these freight trains but this is real work for those of us who would like to see some fundamentals to go with the momentum. Sometimes I wish I could just BELIEVE but I've always had a tough time with religion.

Don't let fear flush you out of a perfectly sound company.

Hell, speculate on this nascent economic activity! The Internet is new and growing. Infoseek is growing like a lovely new baby within its beautiful, bulging belly. Since the advent of the computer itself, there hasn't been a greater opportunity to SEEK out and find investments like a Microsoft.
Infoseek has everything going for it economically. It's the small and obsequious politics of "the market" that gamble with it and keep it down.

Your friend,
Marty
