Don't count Microsoft out of Network Computing. They are developing thin-client software (Hydra) which will use Windows NT 5.0 as the host, and possibly cheap Windows CE devices with the Hydra software as clients. There is also Citrix Winframe which allows small devices to run/control full-blown apps on larger (NT) machines. This adds up to getting most of the benefits of NC without having to deploy something non-Microsoft (for companies already using them).

Nothing is beyond coopting by Microsoft...if it looks like it might be a credible threat to their business, they will make a product that is at least good enough to FUD the supposed benefits.
