Tony - Re: "Do we really know anything about Merced's actual performance yet?" No - the chip isn't out yet so all that Intel would have is "simulations" and estimations. Because of the parallelism of the architecture, the software COMPILERS will also impact performance - as well as the way source code is written. So real performance measurements will be a while in coming - and probably start at one level and improve over time as the compilers and source code learn to deal with the Merced Internal architecture.
