Passion and ownership of stock is ownership of the company, lock stock and barrel. Most of the time we pick stock; we seldomly think of owning the company. The concept was brought about to extreme popularity by Mario Gabelli, Gabelli on NYSE. Even if you are a small stockholder, you can own the company. Mario never own the whole company, either.

But, to own a company is to visit them and see if you like them? Mario sends his people to visit the company and talk to the management. If his people like what they see and hear, then they commit and own the company. If there are problems later, Gabelli has to analyse and help the company to get out of the problem. Otherwise, Gabelli has to get out of the company, and lose money? Forget it.

Management consulting is done very effectively, with very little efforts at that. So, we advise you to own the company and tell the management to fix the company. But first you must visit them and like them; before you own them.
