LT..Thanks for the gracious reply. I realize that we are both basically in the same boat, and both companies have their strengths. As for the MBAs, both Paul Lloyd & Steven Webster have MBAs from Harvard...which must help...if only to look good on their office walls..<g>

That was a great post. How about a couple of words comparing NE with DO? I have a lot of RIG, but I'm looking for another deepwater driller to add eventually (when MDCO gets taken out : ' )).

This is worth repeating:
<NE dumped their land rig and shallow jackups onto NBR and PDE, respectively, last yr when drilling bullishness was at its peak, and began moving more towards deepwater when they purchased Nedrill Drilling in late '96 I believe(North sea drilling co.) That's where they got their harsh environment deepwater jackups, all of their drillships, and some of their semi's. Not a bad change out, eh? in
hindsight. I'll never 2nd guess them after those brilliant moves.>
