Beats me. But execution time may be the factor. I've seen and heard people tell their broker to get them out now and guarantee that they get out that instant, nomatter what it takes, so they over/under bid the market price to guarantee the trade takes place. I'm not saying I do it, but I've been there when I've heard people insisting that that's what they want to do.... And sometimes it comes from a lawyer who doesn't want to wait for a market order to proceed thru the order list to execute before he can tell the husband how much the stock sold for in the divorce settlement.. :-(
