Peter and Openmind, A further update w/ DTN and WOW
What a nice combo !!! I took it a step further :) I have WOW on both machines with 2 DTN boxes (Yes full price,) But here's why It's worth it to me. The amount of info coming in is awesome. I'm now tracking 14,965 stock/equity symbols, 178,000 (yes thousand)option symbols, 600 indices, 3500 futures, 1200 money markets, 1300 bonds, 114,000 Equity/Index options, 63,660 future options. Now of course, I don't need all this but it's there. And when I run a scan..., well you can't believe what turns up. WAY TOO MUCH !! :). So then I separated the program. I have all my chart work (ie. charts, scans, option charts, Time and sales) on my main machine. Then, quote lists, option chainings, News, and more Time and Sales on a smaller machine. My thinking was/is do the number crunching and charts on one -- Quote and News displaying on the other. There's too much too see on one screen anyway(or at least with a base this large). Now I do intend to cull this base somewhat maybe. I will say this, I'll most likely be using a couple GIGs all said and done (60 days of tics and 1,000 Days daily. But I'm only using 15% resources.. "amazing"

There are a couple things about WOW that I'm still uncomfortable with. These have to do with very large lists in the group area. In order to have a chart, the symbol must be in a list. You can have as many lists (or groups) as you want, but each list is limited to 40,000 approx symbols :) :) :) [(I defy ANYONE to try the above with TradeStation) First, you'll spend months not hours setting up. Then you'll spend the rest of your waking hours maintaining the symbol base - Forget trading :):) ! and when you're not looking your machine blows up :)]
Anyway...The program comes with built in groups (industry groups). You can also create your own. OR, You can do a scan and have the results go into a new group then have the program scan that group then scan the next then scan the next..... filtering down.
Most all the entry is automated - symbol lists, option chaining
You can even track Bid/Ask without Level 2 in a Time and Sales window (and view every tic with B/A for the entire day.
There's lots more I can tell but enough for now.
The BMI box went back... And I really feel I have a complete trading desk at this point.
By the way, using only 15% resourses, I can have my company Quickbooks open and modem running for trading all at once.
I also had a proplem with some kind of .dll file in windows/system. I called WOW and they emailed me a a new file the same hour. Yes it did take 20 min to reach them long distance, but I can tell they have a busy shop these days. After some 5-6 years of real time service,
I've switched
