Special Conference Session On Embedded Systems To Debut At COMDEX/Spring '98 Lucent, Microsoft and IBM Executives to Discuss 'Tier-Zero'biz.yahoo.com NEEDHAM, Mass., March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- A conference session on cutting- edge embedded systems is slated to premiere as part of the COMDEX/Spring '98 Conference. This unique session will closely examine how enablement tools, such as Inferno, Windows CE and Java, will use the Internet to satisfy business needs. ''Machine to Machine Communications for Maintenance, Control and Network Management'' is scheduled for noon on April 20, 1998 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Embedded systems, which employ nano-computers to automate everything from refrigerators to cars, will relieve laborious and mundane tasks by performing these tasks for humans. ''Tier-zero'', the coined term for the embedded systems trend, is the next leap in productivity advances and is set to affect billions of machines, representing a market size magnitudes above the traditional IT industry. The session at COMDEX/Spring will provide insight on how embedded systems are going to satisfy business needs by using the Internet. Ron Delange, vice president/Inferno for Lucent Technologies; Jonathan Roberts, group director/Product Marketing and general manager/Emerging Systems for Microsoft Corporation [Nasdaq:MSFT - news]; and Pat Sueltz, general manager/Java Software for IBM Corporation, are scheduled to discuss how Inferno, Lucent Technology's operating system; Windows CE; and Java will power this ''tier-zero'' technology explosion. Francis X. Dzubeck, president of Communications Network Architects, Inc. and long-time COMDEX Advisory Board member, is scheduled to moderate the session. ''Embedded systems is an extremely leading-edge technology - think about the explosion of data on the Internet,'' said Dzubeck. ''You haven't seen anything yet! In 2002, there will be more machine-to-machine traffic on the Internet than traffic from people accessing the Internet.'' From April 20-23, McCormick Place in Chicago will be home to COMDEX/Spring '98; WINDOWS WORLD '98; and EXPO COMM USA '98, a leading communications event produced by E.J. Krause. The Putting Information Technology to Work conference program features over 100 sessions focusing on e-commerce, intranets, the enterprise, workplace applications, Web interactive, and more. The corresponding exhibit floor delivers the total technology that runs today's enterprise, drives today's telecom infrastructure and pushes the digital convergence technologies that are revolutionizing the way we live and work. This four-day exhibition and conference will attract over 675 exhibitors and 100,000 business and IT professionals from around the world. ''The COMDEX Conference has consistently lead the industry in providing the latest information on groundbreaking technologies and trends, '' said Jeff Sudbey, conference manager at ZD COMDEX & FORUMS. ''The addition of this embedded systems session, once again puts COMDEX conference attendees on the cutting-edge of the IT industry.''
