Best Value for Your Money/One to Watch: 3Com
Booth 646 - 3Com

Missing a Christmas with your family because you live on the
other side of the country may soon become a thing of the past.
Together with USRobotics (with whom it has merged) 3Com has
developed technology that can keep you in touch through video phone
calls and video e-mail. The computer-friendly bunch send video
messages and chat online by inserting a video card into the computer.
This card also allows those in business to set up video conferences
with members across the country. The hardware sells at $199. And
quick communication for those without a computer is now possible by
3Com's TV Phone, which, with simple camera hookup, allows you to
turn a regular phone call into a video call at the price of a regular call.
3Com is also a leader in setting the standard for 56K modems. In
February, a new industry standard was announced, although 3Com
alone produced modems meeting that standard before the
announcement. This a company you have to check out -- you could
spend hours on-line with the video phone.
