MM = Market Maker. Money Taker would be a better name.

Sapper

I got into trouble trying to explain what a MM is once before, but I'll try again.

A market maker is the company that is charged with handling the orders placed for the buy and sell of a stock. When a SOES order comes in to buy or sell a stock they match those orders up. Supposedly if there are matched orders then the sell/buy is executed. Where the MM makes his money is within the spread, the difference between the bid and the ask. What in truth happens is the MM has an inventory of a stock that he has acquired from buying or shorting at a lower price. When you place an order for stock he may very well sell you his stock at that price and profit from it, as he has purchased the stock at a lower price.

Hope this helps

Ken W

BAHNYC: The USA is the cheapest place to make a phone call
BAHNYC: beacuse of deregulation. Compettion as we all know
BAHNYC: drives done prices.
BAHNYC: However in most countries if not all other, the telephone systems
BAHNYC: are monopolies.
BAHNYC: No competition. ADGI call-back in conjustion with
BAHNYC: Rockwell Communications based in Ft. Lauderdale Fl.
BAHNYC: conjustion=conjunction.
BAHNYC: sorry
AJohn67208: HELLO
BAHNYC: anyway, .... their system allows a person in a foreign
BAHNYC: country to dial the number they want (obviously)
BAHNYC: however the person is paying their countries huge rates.
BAHNYC: what the do if they have the ADGI system is immediately hang up the
BAHNYC: phone.
BAHNYC: Within 15 Sec. they get a call back with a US dial tone on
BAHNYC: a US phone line.
BAHNYC: Now they can call any number anywhere in the world.
LSBAL: sounds gtreat,I wonder how they market this product
BAHNYC: and get USA rates. If they dial an 800 # their call is free.
BAHNYC: Even if they are calling from Mali.

BAHNYC: This can be a copmany in and of Itself I beleive.
LSBAL: sounds very promising
BAHNYC: Someone calling from Africa can use call-back and call LA, CA and
BAHNYC: pay .10 a minute.
Modlam: Hello room. Did anyone else have major problems with AOL today?
BAHNYC: Also billed in 6 sec increments to save consumer money.
LSBAL: should have a market all over the world for this
Jbroome111: But - is it legal concening the US>
Jbroome111: AT&T might not like this
NO12AGRV8: this will clear up a lot of doubts about the call bvack service
BAHNYC: free start up, call detail, and password restriction.
Jbroome111: Then again they might
Jbroome111: If the whole world was using U.S's phone lines...we're in for trouible
BAHNYC: The second part was anither folder put out by.
LSBAL: I;m no expert but I would hope they have already checked out the legality issues
Jbroome111: We'll need 100 X more lines and numbers
BAHNYC: INDX or Integrated Diagnostics Inc.
Datastrom: This is legal I am a telephone switch programmer and all the big companies that
Jbroome111: INX?
