Lisa:

The three indices (France, Germany, and FTSE 100) are indicating a rise in the DJI of between 75 and 125 points at this moment. The theory here is that our investors and speculators share nearly the same mind-set as those in France, Germany, and Britain this morning. I use these indices as an idea of what may be in store for U. S. markets. However their direction, and even general numbers, have proven useful in the past.

The ARMs index appears to be indicating that we are still in the 1994 to ? bull trend that we reentered at the end of January. For now, it is showing that individuals want to buy stock. In each of the one-day down reactions that we had in the past few weeks, it has shown that the market was not ready to drop. I expect it to do the opposite if we ever experience a bear market.

I think I will go over to quote.com at about 9 am to watch the action in ORCL.. Watch the upside move on ORCL's news and contrast that to the downside reaction on INTC and CPQ. It may reveal something about the mood of the investing and speculating crowd.

Remember,

"The most striking peculiarity presented by a psychological crowd is the following: Whoever be the individuals that compose it, however like or unlike be their mode of life, their occupations, their character, or their intelligence, the fact that they have been transformed into a crowd puts them in possession of a sort of collective mind which makes them feel, think, and act in a manner quite different from that in which each individual of them would feel, think, and act were he in a state of isolation. There are certain ideas and feelings which do not come into being, or do not transform themselves into acts except in the case of individuals forming a crowd. The psychological crowd is a provisional being formed of heterogeneous elements, which for a moment are combined, exactly as the cells which constitute a living body form by their reunion a new being which displays characteristics very different from those possessed by each of the cells singly"

(le Bon, 1895)

Bet the crowd, not the stock.

The following site provides a variety of security information--some free . Below is the page for hoaxes on the internet, just in case you are wondering about some of the junk you receive.

ncsa.com

The second site will not get you directly to the page where I was hoping to send you. However, it does have a search service at the site. Try "hoax." If I can find better directions, I will post later. However, the information is at the site.
