I think he just recognized way sooner than I that you are the quintessential know-it-all. Regardless of what may come of your proposed experiment the result will be the same. You will claim that you are right and the results were rigged and a scam.

Whoa, the gauntlet is cast, eh?

Bill, my friend, I have neither the time nor the inclination to get into a "right and wrong contest" with you. I assume you are a sophisticated professional, and neither of us needs to prove anything to the other.

My point was simple: I've been making a living for quite a while using TA as a filter. I've studied the subject for several years. I have been very successful using TA for entry and exit points on long term (6-18 month) holdings, as well as short term moves. Your generalization about the subject, (...it's foolish to try and predict price movement with technical analysis...) was, in my personal opinion, based on either faulty or incomplete data.

As you are no doubt aware, it is highly unusual for 2 TA people to agree on anything on a chart, mainly due to the fact that they are injecting personal opinion into their analysis. Of the hundreds of TA people I have discussed the subject with, I have found 4 that actually had a really good understanding of the subject! A basic philosophy of investing is: do what works and avoid what does not work. No amount of discussion will make TA "work" for you if you have formed the opinion that it does not work! That does not mean that TA is "foolish". I'm good at it, it works very well for me, and that's the God's honest truth.

Nothing meaningful would be accomplished in a "contest" between your investment philosophy and mine. If you are making money and picking winners, then we are on the same team.

Best of luck to you!
