Steven, Hi!!! There will always be the skeptics "hiding in the grass" dressed in camouflage.... the whole nine yards....Staying long and following the advice of Michael Dell and the management has proven time and again Dell is worth the wait...and two years hasn't been that long!!! It is refreshing also to find someone who keeps their word...that in itself gives one a sense of pride and gives one a sense of confidence in the values of the company...there will be those that find fault with this type of investment ...but, I have found Dell to underestimate just about every aspect of their business goals and expectations...Michael has so casually informed us of where the company is going...but, his eyes and that smile have not disappointed anyone who looks closely. So many have bailed and not considered where this stock will go if they just have the patience...what other position is going to get you where Dell may take you in a few years?? I find this to be a question that Sig, Venkie, Pat, JBN3 and others have asked quite frequently....whether it be "why should anyone sell Dell" or "wherelse are you gonna put your money?? Bonds???".....The" belief in this management" is why Venkie is in it....so many for so long have held that faith...and I guess it is best that the Godzilla's, bears or whoever in camouflage be ignored..... This also may be of interest to you....today I was cleaning out a dry sink and putting it in another room since my daughter moved after being married this summer...and amongst the junk I find some old photos of the Civil War that my dad had sent up to me...well, he wrapped them in newspaper...Know how you read the paper you find protecting something or in the attic,etc...? Well, it happened to be a copy of the Wall St. Journal..... STOCKS LOSE EARLY GAINS,END MIXED: " Stock prices retreated from strong early gains to finish mixed after worries about the technology sector sapped early session strength. The high flying technology group suffered broadly after Compaq Computer said the first quarter earnings might not meet expectations. The news accompanied an explosive fourth quarter earnings report, which investors apparently choose to ignore. In tumultuous trading, Compaq fell 5 to 37 3/8. With Compaq flailing, investors strafed a host of technology companies, including Dell Computer and International Business Machines. " and in yet another article HEARD ON THE STREET ......".other technology biggies have been hit harder in recent days. Yesterday Compaq Computer....etc... Have technology investors gone off the deep end? Maybe not. There's more than one thing going on here. Behind each technology casualty is a concern unique to each company. (IBM for example got hurt by questions about future revenue growth, and a weak showing in personal computers. Compaq suffered because of concerns about first quarter sales.) But fueling the sell offs is an overriding worry among technology investors that a long lived industry rally is on its last legs before the seasonal slowdown in the group brings the party to an abrupt halt. " The article goes on and on....Rick Skerlund cautions...."earnings will grow at a 5% growth rate..."were telling people the stock (MSFT) will be under pressure for the next two quarters"....yet, Mr. Skerlund continues to recommend the stock".....obviously, one would find skepticism in the article...why did Rick still see the light at the end of the tunnel....he refers to the MSFT position and the industry being well positioned for the future... The date of the paper is Jan. 26th 1995..... DELL was trading 2 million shares that day and closed at 42 and change.... MSFT was trading 3.3 million shares and closed at 61.... Surely someone could figure out what the actual price today would be ....Was Dell @ $1 share equivalent??? (help me out here Pat or someone) and MSFT....how many splits since Jan. 26th 1995 ??? Only feel sorry for those that chose to bail on the news of some short sighted reporter.....long. BUY DELL Best, Kemble
