Dwight, I can almost guarantee you that simple question will not even be attempted to be answered. It completely upsets their apple cart. If we are to accept that homosexuality is natural, and perfectly normal behavior, then we must also accept that adults who participate in incestuous relationships are acting naturally and perfectly normally. There is no difference. Both are adults, both harm no other people, and both do it in the privacy of their own homes. It's the same kind of simple question that you can ask strident pro-abortion people. If abortion should always be legal and up to the mother, how about performing an abortion when the fetus is two weeks late for birth? Would that be OK?? The NOW woman will never answer that question either. Let's just see if the other viewpoint has the courage to tackle the incest question. Michael

Dwight, somehow I am still catching up on messages from Thursday. Sorry!! I don't believe that any more homosexuals than heterosexuals would condone incest. I am unclear if that is part of what you are asking, but I do not believe that homosexuals as a group are any less "moral" than heterosexuals. I have heard a lot of explanations of incestuous behavior, and I suppose between consenting adults in the same household using reliable birth control, at least everyone would be a willing participant, and no genetically-challenged children would be born as a result. There have been some societies, like ancient Egypt, where incest was customary, particularly among the royal family, as I understand it. I have an Iranian girlfriend, and she tells me that in modern Iran, children are still encouraged to marry their first cousins, and that it has always been like this, although as this century ends the custom is fading. But almost no one condones incest, probably because instinctually, and having to do with pheremones, the smells we are most attracted to when looking for a mate are those that are as genetically dissimilar as possible to our own, which ultimately causes babies to be born with the very strongest immune systems because of the dissimilarity. This is all on a subconscious level, of course, that our sexual instincts are not usually aroused by siblings. Certainly incest where both participants are not adults is a power relationship as well, and one person is more likely to be the victim of the other. Child molestation seems to happen generation after generation, as powerless children are violated and then compelled to violate the next generation when they grow up. This is very sad, and these people need psychological guidance to help break the cycle of abuse. The society as a whole has a Darwinian responsibility to ensure survival of the species, and therefore social pressure would naturally be brought to bear on the participants. With homosexuals, no children are born at all, and the planet has more than enough children already, so the society really has no interest in censoring the conduct. Christine
