GM,
It's great that you can wave the flag, that has nothing to do with
the potential economic situation as it stands. Yes we have a
strong economy, that is understood, it is however, influenced, whether
directly or indirectly by external influences also. I merely question
what the consequences of a significant negative change would do if
the second largest economy in the world (and one of the largest
exporters to the US) sinks deeper into economic turmoil due to
payment defaults on loans by debtor nations. Indonesia has huge loans from Japan, their currency is worthless, the country is in economic
chaos and will likely default on its international payments. Whether
you want to believe it or not that has a tremendous influence on US
markets. Just look at what happened to the markets when the Bre-X scandal manifested itself, and that was only a mining event.

Forewarned is forearmed!!! Better to understand the issues than to
hide from them and hope that they just disappear, IMO.
