Trey, as we speak, BEL is working feverishly behind the scenes to launch ADSL with WSTL still their vendor as announced. They are keeping all plans for deployment closely guarded .

Much infrastructure needs to be in place for a smooth launch and this is what they are working on now.

keep the faith all.......Bill

When Westell was trading in the twenties a real lot of premium in anticipation of future profits was already in the price.

Since then we had a pretty strong performance from the cable industry competion, more delays until wide spread deployment of DSL services, more competion from new technologies (Paradyne, Nortel), still no finished Westell products with DMT modulation. And of course stronger competition from Cisco which bought the most interesting small DSL company.

I think Bell Atlantic will provide enough business for Westell to keep them busy. But I don't know if it will be enough for a strong earnings growth story.

But I think that Westells product line has real prospects. Every telephone switch and DLC system needs an ADSL solution and Westell will provide some of those. If you already have a DLC deployed that limits your choice of DSL equipment vendors in providing service to your customers behind the DLC.

I sold the trading part (1/3) of my Westell holdings at a small loss when it violated my mental stop loss of $12 two days ago. I will wait until I see real progress in the bottom line of the earnings statement before I consider a big position in a ADSL company again. I might consider a trading position again if I see a good risk reward ratio. but I am not really convinced that Westell at current prices is a good long term investment. There is potentially a big reward but a lot of risk along the way.
