What, that IBM will supply heads to WDC?

MKL,
"I do expect an announcement from IBM/WDC that will drastically affect the DD industry."
Please, tell me you aren't going to use a word like "drastically" to qualify the clause "affect the DD industry" without giving some hint of what this portentous announcement might be?

MKL,

<<IBM is vertically integrated. WDC assemblies HDDs, and buys heads and disks.

<<IBM sells in average to high margin segments. WDC sells to low to average margin segments, primarily in the desktop market.>>

IMO you give two good reasons as to exactly why the two companies could have an interest in the combine. Companies do not merge because they are cultural clones. They look for complimentary markets, strengths, offsetting weaknesses, etc.

Now about your teaser...are you really going to leave it like that? If so, are you saying it so we will all pay homage to you when it comes true. If, and when it comes true, and it has an effect on the stock price, I may just curse you. But if you tell us, I probably won't believe you. Then I can just curse myself. See...the latter is a win-win for you.

Best,
Stitch
