T.P. - My observations are as follows: 1.) Usually very fast. (when uptick criteria is met) 2.) Uusally instantly. 3.) MUCH improved lately. 4.) Yes. However, their interface really sucks. Numbers and columns running together all over the screen tends to wear you down by the end of the day. I sure wish Datek management would let us know if they plan to correct this...HELLOOOOO DATEK.....

Thad Pickard In response to your questions: 1) I have always been able to short in less than 5 minutes. Usually much faster, provided it was a market short. 2) If you cancel you will get a confirmation screen telling you it is trying to cancel and to check Daily Activity for status. If you go to Daily Activity, it will show as cancelled immediately. One thing to note, I believe that if you try to cancel a market short within one minute of placing the order, you are billed the $9.99 commission. You can check that out in Datek's rules and regs at www.datek.com. 3) IMHO, their reliability is as good as there is in the online business. I have had no major problems at open or close, or during the day for that matter. 9 months ago I had some problems but they have dramatically improved their service and reliability in the recent past. 4) Outages are very rare. My opinion of Datek is very good. I do not feel that you experience any problems with Datek that you would not experience with any other broker, be it online or not. I am very satisfied with their service and have recommended it to friends. This is a just one mans opinion, however. Happy Trading, Brian
