Ian, I would say you are about right, on the other hand holding companies usually trade at a discount to their holdings (10-30%), this may not be the case here since it would be a cheap way to get a good size control of Baton by buying 51% of the spin off. The Visual business could be worth as much as 5-6$ based on P/Sratio's in my opinion.
Thanks for the post, I saw it Yday, didn't put here frankly because I didn't think anyone was interested... You can see when I started this thread I was buying in the $11 range based on what I thought was almost a can't lose event. I'm very happy, haven't sold a share and added to my position twice, although I do have outstanding open orders at $20 to start selling. Might be good for $25 in total.
Scott

Ian, in case you are interested, news release, sold 40% of my position today at 19.95. There may be a play after the split on buying the Electrohome stock, should be worth up to $5, will probably trade around $2-3? Scott

Wed 25 Mar 98 News Release
Mr John Pollock reports
April 1 1998 is the effective date for Electrohome's plan of arrangement
reorganization. An application will be made to the Ontario Court on March
27 1998 for the final confirming order contemplated by the conditional
approval order which the court made on February 24 1998; as the conditions
set out in the earlier order have been met, it is expected that the
confirming order will be granted.
Shareholders at the close of business on March 31 1998 will become, as from
the effective date, holders of the same number of shares and class of
shares of two public companies: Electrohome Broadcasting Inc, the only
asset of which will be a 16.6% equity investment in Baton Broadcasting
Incorporated; and Electrohome Limited, which will carry on the company's
visual communications business. Each company will be listed on the TSE.
