SS, Your figures would suggest they paid about $35.75 a share...

Dell bought $35 calls when they sold $30 puts.

3, good points! But here's one more. Stock buybacks add to shareholder value because they are hidden dividends which allow us, the shareholders to defer taxes on the "dividend", and when we do eventually pay we will be paying at the appropriate capital gains rate rather than the higher ordinary income rate. That's pretty nifty!
