RE: ***OT*** Political spin

Michael and all,

My sympathies are a hundred per cent behind anyone
told to fold toilet paper for a living, and a hundred
per cent against anyone who gives such orders or thinks
such a chore is a good thing to do.

Let's not fall into the trap of the false dichotomy.
I'm opposed to an ideal of all free market and no
government whatsoever, true. But I'm equally opposed
to a command economy and gulags. My sentiments are
with a balanced and mixed market. Without any rules
and regulations at all, you get slave labor, and worse.
The historical evidence is pretty unequivocal about
that, don't you think?

This "balanced" view was expounded in some detail during
the Enlightenment, which was the era in which Adam Smith
lived, not coincidentally.

All discourse has political spin. There is no such thing
as "neutral" talk. 'Tis a pity, perhaps, but 'tis true.

Now, back to making money, okay?

Cheers, Tom (long IOM)
