purething, if you found the biblical references in prior posts to be offensive, you should have asked long ago for a viewpoint from a personal, non-religious basis. Since Christine requested understanding for the religious viewpoint at the beginning, I and many others have been adding biblical quotes simply to help...Which is one reason I have felt frustrated by the resistance to the viewpoints and quotes.

I'm going to have a zillion msgs tomorrow probably already, so I think I'm going to call it a night.

Some more jousting on another day, I'm sure?

Regarding the Bible, I hope Christine and you and others don't waste much more time attempting to discredit the Bible. I use the King James Version because I like the flowery language of Old English, and am not inclined to change that. Other than that, I firmly believe that "all scripture is written by holy men, inspired of God". There may be subtle differences in translation, and in fact in my church we have a minister who reads the Greek, etc., to compare the original words with the translations.

One other point- Remember that Religion is faith-based, so no amount of reasoning is inclined to shake people. In fact, they may soon see themselves as persecuted, which only strengthens their resolve. All the original of Christ's 12 disciples died an unnatural death as martyrs except the Apostle John. The Romans weren't content to crucify Christ, but they eventually silenced 11 of the 12 disciples with capital punishment. Food for thought.

.Those references in the bible are very vague. it is only recently that the vague references have been changed into more concrete ones.

Its exactly the other way around, they were more concrete in the minds of readers and believers in days gone by and only of late (last 20 years or so) have they slid into doubt among many.

just thought I would clarify that for you, :0)
