Just got back from dinner with a friend and he says he was a fly on the wall in a very interesting management presentation to the troops. SF (SuperFly) has some good notes that he would like to share with me ( Ithink it is a recruiting trip!) but I'll let him have his say. He only gave me a few hints for now, but we are going to meet over the weekend for some of these college hoops, so maybe he can share more then. But what he said that I can comment on is as follows: 1:) This meeting was a major step for mgmt to repair the disingenuous past regarding the employees. A lotta talk about the quiet layoff and a lotta talk about the co. future (I said they were changing just this past week). From what I gather it was very successful. 2.) Much talk on GTE, and the others. Not all good, but the lining is silver, beneath the gray tarnish. Do you know the fourth? Wow! 3.)Heard lots of cost stuff, but I think that that's proprietary and I am gonna have to respect that issue. But I can say that the GTE winner will lose mucho bucks trying to win this account at least until 2000 maybe longer. 4.) Zionts was the spokesperson along with Nelson and some of his comments are not for the short term market players. But if "you stay the course, you will be the winner", all the business is up for grabs because the RBOCs, etc. are only feeling the market out now. Just because you got a contract doesn't mean that they can't go out for bid again when the time is right for deployment. He gave specific examples to back his stmts. 5.) Be a bull and be happy -- that is my comment -- not his. But remember the gray tarnish is out there too. Hope you didn't want an URL, but I do expect to get some notes... SF tells me he could fill this thread for 20 pgs if he blurted out all the stuff he heard. Can't wait to talk to him more, I heard that they are hiring again, because of all the bad press I guess.
