Lester e, >I'm an old man. I know nothing about stock manipulations or how other markets affect us.

All I know is that AMAT is a great company in an industry that is still in its infancy and is bound to grow over the years.

I just hold and hold and see the net worth of the stock increase every year in good times and bad. About every two years or so the stock splits, decreasing my cost basis and at the end of the year my stock is worth more than it was last year. I have followed this stock for 30 years and this scenario goes on with just a few exceptions.

This plan works for me so I continue to hold. I'm no rocket scientist,
just a retired judge who thinks he is playing a safe game.<

Thanks for your AMAT evaluation. You have great insight and wisdom. IMO, many new AMAT stockholders do not know the potential of AMAT or have forgotten its potential.

Regards,

Paul V.

Lester,

Re:. I have followed this stock for 30 years

AND

I'm no rocket scientist,

One could make the case you are. How did you ever begin following this obscure(then) company for some 30 odd years? That kind of foresight is very rare, and is usually associated with rocket scientists<GGG>.

Regards,

Brian

Lester, sounds like you have been around for a while too! I have been watching this thread for a few months, and finally decided to take the free trial membership.

Back in 1972 a friend tipped me off to a promising new company,Applied Materials, so I bought 100 shares @ 12-13. With subsequent splits and no more buys, I would now have 6800 shares, if I had not donated some! So I get a frequent smile in reading some of the posts. On several occasions it seemed that no substantial growth was occurring, but then the price would "take off" and suddenly we were holding added certificates.

I decided years ago that provided the company was sound and was maintaining a healthy research re-investment, there could not be a more solid business. It only takes one stock like this to make up for a few bad choices. So I am decided "long", and bullish for the AMAT long term.

Forgive me if I try to communicate in English, rather than "threadize".
