1+2)sorry, so you are using 100 base T. so what? how many users were on that connection at the same time? you have to understand that not all of the problems you are seeing with slowdowns are the result of companies still using T1 or T3 connections. a lot of it has also to do with slow hardware.

3)no, there will be competition at the telco COs, but the thing is there is only one bottleneck, while with cable there can be several.
in addition, i think the DSLAMs are feeding into an ATM link, and thats around 640Mbps i think.

my comparison to 56k is perfectly valid since that is what most people are going to look at vs. ADSL. they are going to ask themselves if an extra $20/month is worth the added speed. and here is a prediction: they are going to say it is.
