I do not see Schmidt's hand in this CFO move

The new guy comes from HP. I will bet you he is another Young sponsored candidate.

Schmidt is clearly surprised by the numbers juggling. Right now it is doing him good, but later it could do him bad. When he came in they tried to snooker him. He cut the inventory channel stuffing so that Novell numbers would be real. The lawsuit recognizes that the books were cooked under Marengi. Tolonen was the CFO under Marengi. He is leaving.

I think there are more developments coming here. Perhaps after people realize that the "turnaround" is vastly over stated and unsupported by the last two quarters performance. Even Schmidt says you have to wait and see what happens with Netware 5.0. If Novell produces a bad quarter Feb-April then I think there will be a lot more very nasty questions asked of senior management. I think the new CFO is to deflect that since Tolonen couldn't stand the heat given his participation in past events.

These are my own feelings and do not represent anything other than that. They should not be taken into account when making your own investment decisions and are not recommendations to do anything with your investments. They are merely my attempt to make sense out of what is and has happened at Novell.

Sorry for the slow response, I took a few days away from the keyboard.

I am just as confused by your confusion. I re-read both posts and they are quite clear.

I stated that it was a waste of time to call IR, but that it was ok if "YOU" called them. Personal choice to waste time.

I don't remember commenting on the accuracy of what was said to you other than the fact that it didn't carry any weight.

They would not be able to tell you the real story. Ask them why Marengi left if you still don't understand.

Please show exactly what I said that you feel was a contradiction so that I can help you digest what I meant.
