CEBIT-news are good... Nokia finally gets around to announcing a sub-100 gram GSM phone, there's a considerably lighter and more powerful 9000 smartphone plus some other stuff. It sounds like a surprisingly strong line-up considering the massive 6100 introduction, which was supposed to be the biggest news of -98. Nokia's entire product range is now getting a simultaneous face-lift. No immediate impact on stock price, but that's hardly surprising after the recent run-up. It's good to see Nokia getting the second-generation smart-phone out now that the competition is unveiling its first generation products. And nice that there is now a strong new high-end product as the 6100 phones are making a splash as major mid-market entries.
The latest infrastucture news are good indeed on the GSM 1800/GSM 1900 front. The real sales season for networks is during the summer for some reason, so these off-season sales are a good omen. It will be interesting to see how much profit-taking will now take place amidst these good news. Ollila finally exercised some of his stock options, but let most of them in place, so nobody's yet accusing him of taking the money and running.
