To all,
I see the embedded systems problems, this way. Imagine an hourglass.
Sand at the top, representing all the factories needing remediation.
The neck of the glass represents y2k. A few dozen grains have passed
through the neck, currently. As y2k approaches it is going to become apparent that nowhere near all the grains are going to pass through the neck in time. There are going to be a lot of frenzied grains running around and prices are going to escalate. There will be a lot of
fly by night companies promising a fix and many of these fixes will
break down creating more demand and higher prices for years after y2k.
