NEW YORK, March 13 (Reuters) - Jefferies said on Friday it lowered its rating on shares of Western Atlas Inc (WAI - news), Tidewater
Inc (TDW - news) and Schlumberger Ltd (SLB - news).

-- Analyst Roderick McKenzie Jr cuts Western Atlas to hold from buy, believing shares are fairly valued at 29.5 times 1998 earnings.

-- Tidewater was cut to accumulate from buy based on a revised short-term crude oil outlook. Stock down 1/16 to 44.

-- Schlumberger lowered to accumulate from buy due to reduction in oil price forecast for 1998 and 1999 and higher share valuation, he
said. Stock up 1/16 to 70-15/16.
