SAE CHOOSES SPEEDCHOICE FOR INTERNET ACCESS AT SAE CONVENTION
DETROIT, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has chosen SpeedChoice, a high speed Internet service provider that dramatically reduces the time required to download information from the Internet, to provide Internet access to its booth at this year's SAE Convention February 23-26.
SAE will use SpeedChoice to access its 11,000-page website over the Internet for all those attending the annual meeting of the world's automotive engineers. A large part of SAE's website is dedicated to bringing the convention show daily publication to attendees electronically over the Internet, in real-time.
SpeedChoice is a fixed, wireless high-speed Internet service provider that uses wireless transmission over high frequency spectrum to deliver data, full motion video, and audio at speeds up to 10 megabits per second. That means SpeedChoice downloads information from the Internet 50 times faster than traditional methods.
"Anyone who sees the speed and quality of our data delivery will change forever their expectations regarding the delivery of Internet information," said Matt Oristano, Chairman and CEO of SpeedChoice. "We are able to generate tremendous savings in time and money in downloading information from the Internet.
"The opportunity to have the delegates to SAE compare our technology to traditional methods of Internet access will create many believers. This audience, which deals with cutting edge technology every working day, will be particularly interested in what we have to offer."
In addition to servicing the SAE booth, SpeedChoice also will be providing Internet access service for the American Axle & Manufacturing booth at the convention, where they will be launching a new website (www.aam.com). American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc., (AAM), is one of the world's leading suppliers of driveline systems, chassis components, and forged products for the automotive industry, and is currently a client of SpeedChoice. AAM is headquartered in Detroit.
"SpeedChoice has provided us with a new technology that literally has transformed our information processing from hours to seconds," said Michael Alexander, Vice President, CIO, MIS and Internal Audit at American Axle. "SpeedChoice is a tremendous product that has helped us save time and increase our productivity. It is a must have product for any business."
Ford Motor Company selected SpeedChoice to be its Internet service provider for the North American International Auto Show in January.
SpeedChoice will ultimately be available in major metro markets across the US, but has chosen Detroit as its first market to roll out.
Oristano said SpeedChoice chose Michigan as the site for the launch of its product because of the concentration of industries here that make substantial use of the Internet, "The automotive industry and the State of Michigan have several initiatives underway to integrate Internet technology into industry and education. Detroit will be showing the way in the use of advanced information services to make industrial activity more efficient and competitive," he said.
