A couple of snips from Offshore Data:

Noble Drilling is finalizing engineering work on a new semi design, the Super EVA. The new
semi design will feature many characteristics of Noble's EVA 4000 submerisble-semisubmersible conversion. The triangular
design semi will be capable of drilling in harsh environments in up to 10,000 feet waters.

U.S. GULF: CXY Energy acquired 50 percent of Fina's interests in 64 leases in the Gulf of Mexico. The acquisition adds
about 65,000 acres of CXY's acreage inventory. Eleven of the leases are located in water depths exceeding 4,000 feet.
CXY said one well will be drilled on the new acreage in the second quarter followed by another in late 1998 or early 1999.
Unocal will be the operator. Most of the leases expire in ten years.

This looks co.-specific to me--besides, they say their rig building is O.K.--they just did a lousy job of handling their increased business.

I just bought more FGII.
