What the internet is creating is an nearly endless main street whose stores and offices are open 24 hours a day. I don't see how the biotech frenzy can compare to this. Once a year I'd like to have those cold preventing drugs. I use the internet every day.

The technology needed to achieve the 'hype' is rooted more in physics. Success of the advances biotech companies were claiming seem to have a lot more factors involved than increasing the speed of the internet.

As far as the French, apparently they aren't very imaginative.
