Vinod:

Why bother with Brainshare, you have just announced you are a NT convert? Just curious, as you say one thing, then want to do another (look over your shoulder) <s>.

Hi VK, did anyone at Novell ever get ahold of the Canadian firm you were working for?

Hi Vinod

Can you find out the reasons for your company going for Exchange? I'm curious from the point of view of an ex-Novellian looking around the market and seeing nothing but cr*p compared to Novell GroupWise. I don't want to seem too agressive, but why was the decision taken to move to Exchange? I'm currently using a Lotus product for email (16 bit for some reason) but I'm getting vibes about moving to Exchange - which I consider a step backwards from GroupWise. I mean how many times have I seen MSFT 'discover' something and put it into one of their products and label it 'new' - Sheesh!!!

I hate to say it but I'm starting to feel *very* old. There's a whole world of customers out there who know nothing else but MSFT software. They may be the drones of the computer society but there are a lot of them, regardless of what I or anyone else think. I'm not being a total snob, but consider current computer use along the lines of newpapers. I don't read the trashy 'pick it up at the checkout' type of paper, that's not what I'm used to. But there are millions who will. Exchange is a poor second to GrouPWise. GroupWise has a whole world of thought behind it - try using both and then compare. Please. Ask your IS director to pause a while and give this issue some thought, are they knee-jerking or what?

I hope I don't have to end up using the MSFT product - history and personal experience has show it's normally second best (at best) if not third-best. If anyone wants to poke fun at GroupWise, I'll gladly enlightlen you from memory. And I'm a Lotus/MSFT user now - I've seen the other side and it sucks - big time!

On that note, I've seen Exchange, and It's MSFT. Standards seem to be dropping. Once again, if anyone has a problem with any of my opinions - where were you two weeks ago?

Regards

Peter
