Gda, I am a chartist. I live and die by the chart. To me, the chart is the ultimate oracle; it does not lie. VTSS is currently in a trading range of $42 - $48. I really dont care much about market cap or 'over-valuation'. If the chart tells me that a stock is going up; I buy.
This is the only way I have found to make money from stocks.
And the chart says $25 is pure speculation at this point!

gda, I'm going to take a shot at understanding how the competition can kill VTSS.

IMHO VTSS's results depending on its execution and are largely independent of the competition, however, since people keep bringing up the technical problems that lie ahead for VTSS, I want to quantify how significant these changes could possibly be.

The best spot to attack VTSS is:

Gigabit Ethernet: Most likely competitors, TXN and Symbios followed a distant third by LSI and IBM, Lucent.

Competition Strengths: Symbios has this in a Si bipolar process
TXN is using a BiCMOS process (CMOS coming)
LSI and Lucent are full CMOS

Chip Price based on CMOS die area at 50% gross margin = $2 to $3

Current market Price $12

The question is: Will TXN try to buy market share?

If someone want to give me a hand, we can work our way through VTSS's portfolio and see what the impact will be.
