Etudes In The Key of SEEK... ** Have I just invested in this company 'cause I really like the symbol SEEK? With Microsoft coming out with Start, it's new portal and Netscape trying to decide who its going to be and who's going to sit at its table, I can only imagine that SEEK-land is probably rife with late-night meetings and strategy sessions. Could Start say to SEEK don't go there vis a vis Netscape? Given SEEK's once-strong reliance on Netscape, yet budding ties with MSFT, might SEEK be wondering which deal is right? One thing's for certain, when things start getting weird, it's nice to have a $30-$35 million war chest to make things nice again. Does anyone know, to repeat from a prior and ignored post, if institutional investors in SEEK's SPO were indeed restricted from trading those shares for 30 days? Is there such a thing as a quiet shorter? Or is it written somewhere in your genetic short nature that you must post foul untruths--or just paint some thunderheads on the horizon--about the company in an attempt, no matter how futile, to make your short play pay? (For footnotes on the above, check the Yahoo SEEK thread which is now beginning to resemble crack night at the ferret hut. Some good folks left. But harried by a new and peculiarly vulgar crowd.) Why do I just instantly dislike shorters-- even in stocks that I'm not invested in...? How is it that the SI thread is the only gathering place in America where no one is trying to sell me Amway? Oh, 'hopper, this is for you. I'm sorry I've been so lighthearted lately. But, I did not read your post about how the MM's stopped you out until this afternoon. I had that happen to me two years ago... and it still smarts. ** What if the market really chugs south? I mean as far south as Belize. Will I be on this board?
