I was doing range-trading on RNE (buy low 20-s - sell high 20-s)
until recently. The situation on the Russian market looks short-term
bullish to me - given multiple interest rates decreases, pending any
major world market crisis. The currency
collapse, I believe, is unlikely (although many experts are talking
about it!) Many hedge fund managers (primarily Soros) were
successfully trying to make contacts with the
government to get an access to the
privatization auctions (huge bucks). They may be interested in
the market drop before they buy, but not after that. Besides,
I don't think Eastern Europe is ripe for such an action at all.
I may be wrong. As for Yeltsin - he might have a cold, indeed.
(Although it might be something more serious). Russian winters
are severe, and typically people have 1-2 colds per winter.
Something is different over there... More infections?
