Hi Shane:
A good test of your theory that the semis are washed out will come on
Monday after the market closes with MU reporting what will likely
be a terrible quarter without much hope for immediate earnings improvement. I sure hope that you are correct about semis being washed out.

Shane, why would someone buy 12500 shares after the close at a price considerably higher than he could of bought earlier or even wait till Monday ,also there was a smaller trade after that of 2500 0r so....One,he was just a dumb investor but then why did some other dumb investor follow him....its not like LSI was up a point or two on heavy volume it was flat so whats the rush...it looks like a buyer with his broker or someone following him....is there anyway that 1600 puts at 4 1/4 is a bullish sign....day after that happened the stock started up...ain't stopped yet...I know don't read to much into these happenings but I am...somethings going too pop...any bets?

Shane,

I've decided to pick the lowest price I want to pay for any semi this year and try not buy it unless it gets there.

Some stocks like NSM seem to be there now, and since bad news goes with bottoms
only scaredy cats are selling now imho. I suppose they must think that there will be no technology in our future, no internet connection in our cars, no back-to-school PC's for under $599, no chips, no salsa, no DVDittos,........or maybe they think these stocks will just sit there at their lows indefinitely. Sure, anything is possible.

In either case, it looks to me like some of the semis have come pretty close to what might be considered their yearly lows for this year already. That's not to say that they won't revisit, but even if they do, will they go much lower and break an 8 year trend? No, I don't think so. I doubt it. One could begin accumulating here. One might consider loading up here. We are in agreement. We may sink like rats on the Titanic, but we agree on the ship and its most probable course.

And, I think we are also in agreement about the semi-equips. It's a mixed bag. Some of these may not have reached their yearly lows and have further to fall while others seem to have hit their lows and are recovering a little.

So, if this is right then what are the possible lows for 1998? Will we see these numbers again by next week? by summer? or, slightly lower numbers still?

Have a nice weekend.

It's a bull hedge here's why............I buy 1600 puts at 21 - 21 1/2 a support area plus maybe I've heard something, it cost me $700,000...All I can loose is 700,000 if the stock stays under 25 by the 3RD week in April(when are earnings).I then buy 700,000 shares of stock..remmber we had heavy volume for a couple of days after the puts were bought...now everytime the stock goes up a point I make $700,000 its up at least two, $1,400,000 my puts have lost 1/2 350,000 so I,m plus 1 million. I do this because I really know something ( GOOD NEWS COMING I.E. HEAVY TRADING IN THE FUTURE, which will let me unload 700,000 shares easily)but I hedge it...my downside is covered by the puts where I can only loose $700,000 my upside is real good if the stock goes back to 27 I ve made 4-6million( my initial investment plus puts 15 million) I then sell the shares that puts pressure on the market that drives down the stock that makes the puts rise...of course I could have bought more puts before dumping the share thus the stock could only have to go back down to around 24 for me to recoup my initial 700,000. I'm betting on good news.... Now who would sell me 1600 puts....any guesses?
