David,

Well, so far I'm happy, and the dog gets to eat Alpo again today.

Interesting close.

I'm not used to LSI going up, but I could get used to it.

David:

You maybe right.

Kurlak has cried wolf too many times. I think with each warning the stocks are acting more and more indifferent. (All things considered I've been surprised that CPQ has held up.)

I don't know if this resistance to bad news by the semis is foolhardy or a reflection of the fact that for the most part the semis have been shellacked bad enough. I suspect the semis are priced relatively attractively to some of the other sectors in the markets these days.

The market keeps hitting new highs the semis keep going down. So we must be relatively better priced. Whether this will be enough if the market goes into "panic" mode is another story. I doubt it.

The other point about "dead money" is that the underlying business is improving and that is different from holding a position in a stock whose business is deteriorating. The latter is really "dead money", the former is probably just "incubating"!

I'm willing to give LSI one more chance at explaining any weaknesses in their business this q (if there is a weakness - the PC thing hits many companies indirectly). After that I expect good things.

Shane.
