Something to pass the time for y'all... I was searching for the Harvard Business Review on our library site (private access, University of Michigan) and came across this tidbit. Could be the reason for the new "loan". JUST KIDDING! sheesh.

Title: Michael Dell's housing crisis
Title Note: Property appraisal
Book Published: 1997
Journal Title: Fortune 136:236 Nov 10 '97

Abstract:
Dell Computer founder Michael Dell is in dispute with county property appraisers over the value of the house he is
building in Austin, Texas, and his 1997 property tax. The county says the house is worth $22.5 million as of
January 1, 1997, which would mean Dell owes around $600,000 in property tax. Appraisers hired by Dell value
the house at between $5 million and $6 million, leaving a tax bill of $160,000 or so. Neither side can agree, the
problem being that there is no other house in Austin to compare to Dell's, a 22,000-square-foot structure set on 60
acres.
