I agree with Mohan, Brian. Definitely call DELL tech support and just find out if it is a fax modem or not. There is no point in troubleshooting it if it's not. (she said, stating the obvious). My one tip: CHECK AND MAKE SURE YOUR USING THE CORRECT INIT STRING (that's initialization string). Look in the manual or call tech support. Can you dial in with it? If so, don't assume that's the correct init string for dial in and faxing.

Regarding the Harvard Business Review article. I called our library after searching around on their web site and the 98 issues aren't up yet, so no electronic copy. Here is a link to the HBR web site with a "teaser" for the article (just to make matters worse). Maybe one of you with a paper subscription, has access to the electronic versions.
