Hi Mohan,
Lord knows we could use the business. ha.

Dad would prefer to page me and have me look things up while he's on the phone. ;-) I can actually say his name and computer now in the same sentence without him hanging up ("gotta run now!"), so I'm making progress. He's more liquid than me right now as I'm dead in the water with DELL and SMOD. sigh. I may need a reason not to sell and go make some money elsewhere.

Stay tuned for fun. I'm working up a junket to the Caribbean shortly and I guess I could buy some Dell machines for the islanders. Whaddya think? If you're good, I'll share the details with you. I have the specs I bid a few months back, so I will have an interesting price comparison when I rebid them (bids are DELL, btw, off their web site).

You know, we use DELL workstations here at the University of Michigan in our computing sites (open 24x7). They take a pounding and hold up well. I think we may be one of their bigger installations around with 300+ machines just in sites. That doesn't cover staff machines and other departments. Last year we ordered DELL servers to run the sites and they're performing pretty well. I think we've only had one problem. We just ordered new DELL servers for our staff (IT division) servers and they're getting pounded on now and the guys are happy. Our network guys tell me they are more like "real servers" instead of just machines beefed up to act like a server. We have a bunch of Compaq servers still and they are great. Our choice is DELL workstations and CPQ servers, but the DELL servers are gaining some respectability. DELL gives us better pricing also. Their workstations run better than CPQ workstations with propietary software and less problems. We load those babies up with apps.

headed home for wine. been a long week. later!
