DH,
There can be no doubt that these factors have changed Dr. Faris approach as well. To his credit the rumors of Russian deals through Anatole's relationships has given me some renewed confidence in the fact that a Russian relationship would preferentially secure space in the only way out of Kasakstan for now thru Russia. These facts in the article are like everything we read on our favorite little area of the world real old news. The price of oil has been forcasting lower for some time and has caused Faris to change direction I would say in the Nov-Dec time frame. The appointment of Anatole and all the Russian activity may in the final analysis and retrospectively have been a brilliant move. The game is afoot now and the wiley will be victorius. I have watched Dr. Faris in action for some time now and he is very clever guy despite his numerous short comings.

Your concerns are certainly legitimate but the Global Economy Paradigm has fooled everyone for now and my bet is on that the demand for OIL has reached higher and higher and the fuel for world growth will drive the Chinese and Russians to tap the Caspian Reserves faster then any of us could predict. The Chinese are going to be let into the WTO if they promise to not devalue again. That is mind boggling and not something any of us can truly appreciate in it's sheer magnitude. I am a bull and believe in the Millenium Effect.

For further food for thought get Warren's perspective to be posted sometime today or tommorow:

Right....wrong; who cares. It's only opinion based on a close relationship with the industry going on 20 years. The "Experts" such as Razor and Taylor were attacked and ridiculed by some of the "Permabulls" (some are still at in other stock chat rooms, pretty horrible that they think I would waste time following them around). It wouldn't surprise me that I was accused of manipulating the world oil prices to ruin their day.

A turn around in world oil prices is going to take a few events; mainly OPEC stopping the infighting and Asian economies rebound. Problem is that non-OPEC is finding and producing more oil in a declining consumption market, temporarily. Even if Asia rebounds, you still have this competing supply that is growing and not declining.

You maybe entering a selective era for the next few years of concentrated E&P towards those programs that return the most. Any marginal area's won't be looked on favorably.
