Yes you would file a Sch C and pay social security on net business income. As a financial advisor or independent registered rep classified as an Independent Contractor, (sole proprietor), business expenses are deducted from wage & business income. If your listed as a Corporation, you cannot deduct more than your business income.

This has nothing to do with gains and losses day-trading your own account. Only deducting your equipment, programs, etc.etc. needed to earn business income.
