Dale,

Look at all the current and future competition out there to take on Zip. Boy, if I was a consumer I might find all of it a little confusing! So confusing that maybe I ought to buy one of those Iomega Zips, they've already sold 14 million or so and they seem to work, people like-em.

Yeah, maybe that's what I'll do,

Re: Conflicting reports about Sony HiFD availability

When HiFD was announced, in the fall, the original press release said that pricing and availability would be announced in sixty days. As of this time, about five months later, no announcement has been made.

BTW, I just checked the Sony website, at ita.sel.sony.com

They are soliciting resellers to sign up for their STAR program. That's Sony Technology Associate Reseller.

Gee. Soliciting resellers on the website. That's similar to Iomega soliciting Clik! OEMs on their website. Castlewood is also soliciting OEMs that way. A sign of desperation? I think not. I think it's just good business sense to use every available means to make connections.

And speaking of competition which is not yet shipping, the Castlewood website still says "ORB will be available in Q1 of 1998. We have just a few more months of work to get ORB Just Right!" Somebody should let them know that there are only two weeks left in Q1.
