I agree with you completely. A free trial generally will only attract the type of people who like to hear them self talk, the kind who are looking for any attention they can get. When you pay to post, you will attract serious investors who want to add value to the discussions (most of the time, you will still get a few sour grapes). If people want to post and have something valuable to add then they will join, a free trial period will not be the deciding factor IMO. I will also send an email sharing my concerns.

I don't know how they will make sure some don't have several free trials! So far, I don't like it. I was going to post about 3 weeks ago on hoping they would raise the cost to $1000 or find a site that was that price to keep out Yahoo 'trash' (I don't know what to call them.) Then SI does this. It's too easy to get kicked off SI so I don't know what to say. I'm for watching a while longer. I guess. KZAP

I just found this site.....I may get flamed, but let me give you my experience. I "lurked" for about a month before I joined. It was hard to find specific threads, and who to believe. I joined one day when I was home sick. (Trial Membership). I thought - what the heck - what could the membership possibly give me that the free "lurking" could not? Well, after the first day, I have never looked back. I sent in my $$. I don't post very much because I am new at this stock "game", if you will. Now, I don't like all the namecalling, flaming, hurt feelings, etc. that goes on here, and it does slow down the process of finding useful info, but you just have to learn to go around those people. I don't know that I EVER would have joined SI if I was not able to get a trial membership. And, since I have joined, I have learned how to do more useful DD. I hope to be a real contributor someday soon. Regards, Randi
