If I recall, the date is probably not exact because of problems with the launch vehicle in it last flight (the failesd asia sat launch).

After a failure more tests need to be run to ensure it won't happen again. The date will be set once they are confident of a successful launch.

Something else - there is another launch scheduled for May 1st on the same platform, but all the subsequent launches are about 5 weeks apart. It looks like the date may slip, since it usually does even after they first announce a firm date...
