Mr. Volquardsen; Often I have said that it would be sorry commentary upon the ambitions of mankind if there were to be a day that passed without some human seriously contemplating scaling the highest peak on earth. The power grab for posting #10,000 harkens to the noblest impulses possessed by men, and sometimes by women; the desire to beat the other guy! You sir, let the Wolverine out! As a veteran, however, I realize that there are other ways to stage a contest besides sporting events, a collegiate pastime. We are about to enter the most significant week in the history of Naxos and I hope that those that aspire for glory look more toward the light hearted sporting metaphor of a die hard collegiate fan, and less toward the military metaphor musings of an urban bush vet. The aftermath of military conflict ain't pretty. But remember, someplace, somewhere, somehow there's a woman behind it all spoiling the fun. :-( Mr. V, et al, your post-for-glory frat was busted by Webmistress Jill, housemother to our thread, and Anne "Get yer quip out" Lamb just backed into submission some dubious dudes here on the thread as well. Just remember when the men get out of line the women usually step in and whip them back into shape. And Lord knows we've been seeing our share of men, military and civilian, slip up quite a bit lately. And more often than not there's a woman pointing that fact out. (Perhaps it was that golf ball and hose thing.) There's always room for a higher standard, guys. Anyway, my thanks to the gentle voices of sanity and reaction taken by these two women. Things were getting a little too silly around here. Jerard P
