Thanks for the reference Zoltan. He says at the end: "But I am confident that an understanding of the beginning of our universe is within sight, and at some point in the not too distant future we will actually understand what happened before the Big Bang, and how time began." Now there's some wishful thinking for you! And they still didn't explain that because the instanton is defined by itself, the pea-size is still a question begged. There is no externality to the original pea. So it remains as "large" as now. Maurice
