In this particular situation IMHO things are much different. And I feel this will be a repeat of all the discussions we had last year. But, the truth is Microsoft can not re-define what has already been established as standards (namely Java per Sun's specifications). What they are doing now is sort of like a little kid crying to get some attention, and just like that little kid who eventually gets tired of crying and will end up listening to his mom, Microsoft will eventually realize they better play by the standards (per Sun's specification) or else they will start losing a lot of money from their tools line of products.

No one who is developing Java applications in his /her right mind will use MS's stuff for his/her work! If they do, why on earth they want to do Java development? They may as well stick to C++ and the other stuff MS has given them for Windows based applications. Java based applications are not meant to be Windows specific.

Consider the following analogy: In the middle of Saudi Arabia you are better off with Camels rather than a Jeep Cherokee. However while Jeep is a vehicle you can drive not only in Arabian desert (of course with a little difficulty!) but also on highway 101 in Silicon Valley! On the other hand you can not ride a camel on highway 101 in Silicon Valley! Microsoft's attempt to redefine Java is similar to deploying the Jeep in the middle of Arabian desert, and any Microsoft Java based application is as useful as trying to ride a camel on highway 101!
